The Shed Hunt at Chenoweth Trails
The First Annual Shed Hunt was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012. This was one our most successful turnouts for attendance and it was great to see all the groups of father-son, father-daughter, entire families, and friends who came in masses. We would like to thank all who were able to attend and make it successful. It looked like everyone had fun including the kids and dogs!
The day started early. Brian handed out the designated plots to hunt and by 10:00 a.m. we were all off to find the antlers that our deer population shed after the winter. Everyone met back at camp at noon for burgers, dogs, chips and cold drinks! Special thanks to Todd Vanatta, our camp chef of the day for running the grill and adding to the menu some of his famous Smoke Stack BBQ Ribs. After lunch everyone was refueled and ready for round two of hunting down the sheds.
After a full day of hiking, heading back to the camp and out of the woods were the kids on dad’s shoulders, dragging dogs and lots of laughter. Some stayed around until after dark gathering around the fire for pizza and lots of good story telling. It was some-what difficult to figure out the final tally of antlers found because as you know, it isn’t the size of the rack, but how good the story is when you tell it and not having anyone call your bluff.
What a great day of weather, hiking and fun! Thanks again for all the support in making this event successful! We look forward to next year.
